…but of power

Paul told Timothy (2nd Timothy 1:7) that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Paul’s life was drawing to an end, Timothy needed encouragement, and a remembrance of God’s provisions. Our God who loves us enough to send His only son (John 3:16) does not leave us without equipping us. When God has laid out every need for a christian, then the responsibility falls back to the individual to make application. What good is the armor of God if the christian is not suited up? Paul wrote later (1:12) “nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. … See, it is not God who is short in provision nor is He unable. It is the soul of man who through lack of confidence in his own conviction fails to recall when needed the “for whom I have believed and am persuaded.”

2 Timothy 2:11-13  This is a faithful saying:For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.
